I work as a mark-maker in order to reflect the feelings and tones of my personal experiences.

When creating a field of color and marks, I think about what essence, mood, or feeling I want to conjure up. This is an internalized essence that then when translated onto a physical form can be interpreted as a different mood from the viewer. I do not need the viewer to experience the piece in the same way that I introspect, as this is something out of my control. I am interested in associations viewers find, as the mind is programmed to  do such. Those associations begin to create their own perceived mood and essence that can only be separately experienced by each viewer. The crossing of my aimed essence and the perceived image are able to dance around each other with the possibility to intersect, combat, tangle, buck against.
